Instagram Setup Guide
Connect your Instagram Business account to Brevux to manage Direct Messages, respond to story mentions, and automate conversations with customers who discover you on Instagram.
Prerequisites
You need an Instagram Business or Creator account (not a personal account), a Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account, and a Meta Business Suite account with admin access.
If your Instagram account is personal, switch it to a Business account in Instagram Settings > Account > Switch to Professional Account.
Connect Your Account
In Brevux, go to Settings > Channels > Add Channel > Instagram. Click "Connect with Meta" and authorize Brevux to access your Instagram messages. Select the Instagram Business account you want to connect.
Brevux will set up the necessary webhooks to receive real-time notifications for new messages, story mentions, and reactions.
Managing DMs
Once connected, all new Instagram Direct Messages appear in your Brevux inbox. You can reply with text, images, and quick reply buttons. Agents can see the customer's Instagram profile and previous message history.
Story mentions and replies are also captured, allowing you to engage with customers who interact with your content.
Automated Responses
Set up auto-replies for common Instagram DMs using the Flow Builder. Create welcome messages for new followers, FAQ responses, and product inquiry workflows.
Connect your AI agent to handle Instagram DMs automatically. The AI can answer product questions, share links, and escalate complex queries to human agents.
Limitations & Tips
Instagram's API has some limitations: you cannot initiate conversations (only reply to user-initiated DMs), message templates are not supported, and there's a 24-hour response window for non-sponsored messages.
To maximize engagement, respond to DMs quickly, use story stickers to encourage DMs, and promote your Instagram as a support channel on your website.
