SMS Setup Guide
Connect Twilio to Brevux to send and receive SMS messages. SMS is perfect for time-sensitive notifications, two-factor authentication, and reaching customers who prefer text messaging.
Twilio Account Setup
Create a Twilio account at twilio.com. Navigate to your Twilio Console and note your Account SID and Auth Token. Purchase a phone number with SMS capabilities — choose a local or toll-free number based on your needs.
For high-volume SMS, consider registering for an A2P 10DLC campaign to improve deliverability and avoid carrier filtering.
Connect to Brevux
In Brevux, go to Settings > Channels > Add Channel > SMS. Enter your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and the phone number you purchased. Click "Connect" and Brevux will configure the Twilio webhook automatically.
Send a test SMS to verify the connection is working. The test message will appear in your Brevux inbox.
Sending SMS Messages
From the Brevux inbox, select SMS as the channel when composing a new message. Enter the recipient's phone number and your message. SMS messages have a 160-character limit per segment — longer messages are automatically split.
Use SMS for appointment reminders, order confirmations, delivery notifications, and promotional offers. Track delivery status and read receipts in the conversation thread.
SMS Automation
Create automated SMS workflows using the Flow Builder. Trigger SMS messages based on events like new orders, abandoned carts, or appointment bookings. Use variables to personalize messages with customer names, order numbers, and dates.
Connect AI agents to handle incoming SMS conversations automatically. The AI can answer common questions and escalate complex issues to human agents.
Compliance & Best Practices
Always obtain proper consent before sending SMS messages. Include opt-out instructions (e.g., "Reply STOP to unsubscribe") in marketing messages. Comply with TCPA, GDPR, and local telecommunications regulations.
Send SMS during business hours to avoid disturbing customers. Monitor opt-out rates and adjust your messaging strategy accordingly. Use Brevux's suppression list to automatically exclude opted-out numbers.
